A little about Shelby
I was born in Oklahoma, and grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri with an Associate Arts degree, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from U.N.M. I was a social worker with the State of New Mexico for several years, prior to moving to Fort Collins in 1974.
My husband Dick just retired in October, 2015. He grew up in Illinois, and was also an accomplished Realtor and broker. We had our own office for 5 years, before joining Prudential Real Estate in 1991. Prudential then sold to Berkshire Hathaway in 2014.
Our knowledge of real estate in the area is unsurpassed. Real estate is just a way of life for us. I work out of our fully equipped satellite home office.
We feel very fortunate to live in this area. The four-season climate is ideal for us, the scenery is lovely and the people are very friendly!
Any free time we have is spent taking care of six acres in northwest Fort Collins at the base of the foothills. I like growing flowers, and Dick enjoys working with trees.
We love animals, and enjoy feeding birds and squirrels, and watching the wildlife we are very fortunate to have nearby. We have a resident herd of about 18 mule deer, who eat everything in sight. This past summer a doe took up residence under our front porch. She hated it when we went out on the porch and disturbed her! We also see an occasional bear and mountain lion, which keeps life interesting.
This is "Tippy" eating sunflower seeds. She is one of our favorite squirrels. Dick put up several houses for squirrels, which they use for sleeping and raising their babies.
In addition to our outdoor critters, we have a parakeet named Quincy. He is six years old, and is a bundle of cheer. He makes sure every toy he has gets attention every day!
